Dr Ella Rachamim
I am a paediatrician and mother to a busy 6 year old and lively 5 year old identical twin girls. I studied in London and have trained in many of the North and Central London teaching hospitals. My particular field of interest is in community paediatrics.
I had an emergency c-section with my son after many hours in labour and went on to breastfeed him for a year. My twins were born when he was 16 months old. Breastfeeding my twins came easily at first but at around 3 months I started to struggle. Eventually the girls were diagnosed with reflux and have thrived ever since but I was physically and mentally exhausted. Thankfully, between a supportive husband, family, friends and Jan, a trusted babycare consultant – and knowing how to navigate the NHS – I managed to climb back up from a very low point in my life and now enjoy my three healthy, happy children.
My personal challenges have made me really think about how I can help new parents best. Being “on the other side” has opened my eyes to what it must be like to suddenly find yourself in a completely new role as a parent, with a beautiful baby dependent on you for all their needs.
My courses aim to unravel the confusion around parenting, be supportive, informative and above all realistic. I want to empower new parents:
- to feel confident when things are going well,
- to be able to identify when things could be going better,
- and to know where to go to get the right help when they need it.
